Wil threw a perfect game as a sophomore. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals after deciding to attend the University of South Carolina. His team won the state championship in 2008. Wil was drafted as a catcher by the Kansas City Royals in the third round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, as the 91st overall pick.
Myers signed a contract with the Royals in August 2009, which included a $2 million signing bonus. He hit 254 with eight home runs and 49 RBIs in 99 games for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals in 2011.
